LOCAL FAMILY MAKES DONATION IN HONOR OF THEIR YOUNGEST

May 14, 2020

This is one of the hardest posts I have ever written but I want you to know about the amazing donation we received yesterday and the family behind it. At the beginning of March, the following email came to my mailbox:

Kelly,
I am reaching out because I received one of your comfort kits back in August when I flew with my 4 year old son to Denver from Delta.

My sweet boy Brooks would be turning 5 at the end of the month and I wanted to find some service that my family and friends could do to honor him on his birthday.

The comfort kit was exactly what it is entitled....comforting. I would love to get donations from friends and family of items you need for the kits or money for those who don’t want to go buy anything. Would that be possible and is it needed? Just let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
Jana Miramontes

Jana and I corresponded back and forth and the donation this beautiful family brought yesterday was the result of their efforts to honor their precious boy. In keeping with that, I want to share with you some pictures and part of his obituary with you.

Brooks was born on March 26, 2015 and he was the beloved eternal son of Tony and Jana Miramontes.

Brooks lived life to the fullest. He loved his sister and brothers more than anything. He enjoyed playing ball, jumping on the trampoline, popsicles, singing and dancing, fighting hoards of imaginary zombies, being with his family (especially tagging along with his siblings....he never wanted to be left out!) and just being a little boy.

Brooks is a bright light in the darkness who emulated the example of his Savior in all that he said and did! He knew no strangers and could make anyone an instant friend with his contagious laugh and smile. Mischievous, curious, and not very fond of dumb rules. He took the greatest pleasure in the smallest of things and overwhelmed you with his thank yous. His beautiful blue eyes and his incessant "pleases" would make you give in to any of his wishes. He always knew how to comfort others and make them feel loved. He would snuggle deeply in your arms and whimper softly while gently rubbing your forehead and say "I love you" reassuring you everything would be alright. Full of compassion and love Brooks was too perfect for this world and so was called back to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ. In his very short time here on this earth, Brooks was blessed with so many wonderful gifts and talents that we will cherish in our hearts and memories until we can be together again as an eternal family!

He is survived by his parents, Tony and Jana Miramontes; his four siblings: sister, Makyla “Kyla” (20) brother, Caleb (19) brother Eli (17) and brother Rhett (13).

Thank you Miramontes Family for the donation and for sharing the love of your beautiful amazing boy with us and with each person that will receive the bags you helped fill.
